The company profile of G.E.I. KRAMER & HOFMANN mbH

For more than 30 years our company has been active in the fields of databases, customer information systems, patent information systems, literature databases and management information systems.

As early as 1989, we were a partner of STN International and developed the “STN Personal File System” for the STN network. At that time, STN database downloads could be transferred to a local system and the data could then be used locally. The search options were also adapted to the STN online system. With the advent of the Internet, the STN Personal File System was converted to server technology so that the application could be controlled with a browser.

The company has been based in Kleinblittersdorf since 1996, directly on the German-French border. This is a good starting point for customers from all over Germany and Europe. Kleinblittersdorf, separated from France only by the Saar River, is also the venue of our annual Information Day, where customers receive comprehensive information in lectures, demonstrations and discussions.

Our team serves customers from all over the world, and XPAT has achieved wide distribution.

Basis is the database management software InterHost

Everything is controlled with the Internet browser

All our applications are operated using standard browser functionality. Installation on every workstation is therefore unnecessary for multi-user systems. The system is installed on the server side under a Windows Server operating system. The interaction between the InterHost 3000 database server software, a standard web server such as Apache or IIS, and the Internet browser enables customers to operate even complex systems with simple means. The strict separation of database structure information, data, and the template files that determine the appearance of the applications offers numerous advantages.

For all industries and sectors

Our applications are used across industries, mainly in the areas of information and documentation, research and development, patent documentation and monitoring, and literature management.

In our company, we work together closely and coordinate our activities. We regard sales, development and customer support as a joint effort.

Overall, our systems are used in companies that together employ hundreds of thousands of people. Our customers are supported directly from our headquarters in Kleinblittersdorf. We are proud that customers can contact us directly rather than being referred to a call centre. We can support and maintain our systems in many different ways.

In-house, hosted or in the cloud

We prefer to offer XPAT as an in-house solution. The server is then located in the customer’s network, where the customer can apply its own IT security policies. However, we also host systems for customers. This is economical, although the customer does not work in the same network as the server.

For maintenance, we provide personal telephone support, remote-maintenance solutions such as TeamViewer, or direct remote access. The customer ultimately decides which approach is most suitable.

Through many years of experience, we have developed a network that can provide customers with search services, fee and payment services, and patent-law support in addition to our own software solutions.

Short response times

We attach particular importance to short response times. Once a year, we invite our customers to Kleinblittersdorf to discuss future developments in our products. Nowhere are customers more closely involved in the development of the systems. The event also offers an opportunity to meet the people who use XPAT. As we implement well-founded customer requests free of charge within the scope of maintenance contracts, every XPAT customer can benefit from good ideas contributed by other users.
